Reconciling theory and practice – Scholarship holders visit Flottweg
As part of the Germany Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium), Flottweg is once again sponsoring five students from OTH Regensburg, Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, and Deggendorf Technical University in 2023. With this coveted scholarship, students with especially good grades receive financial support amounting to EUR 300 per month for one year, of which EUR 150 is subsidized by Flottweg as a sponsor, and EUR 150 by the Federal Government of Germany.
Personal introduction and practical exchange of ideas at the scholarship holder meeting
The aim of the Germany Scholarship is to establish initial contact between the scholarship recipients and Flottweg as a benefactor. This meeting was held at the beginning of March at Flottweg’s Plant 2. The students gained insight into the company and the professional world, and were given a brief introduction into mechanical separation technology. Following this, the students were taken on a guided tour of Plant 2's production facility in order to expand on their knowledge of separation technology. HR Manager Michael Jakob believes that the meeting was a success: "It is essential that we build a relationship with our scholarship recipients and get to know them on a personal level. We firmly believe that the Germany Scholarship is an excellent way for students to develop their own perspectives of professional life in general and of Flottweg in particular. As such, we are very pleased to sponsor another group of students this year."
The Germany Scholarship at Flottweg: A combination of studies and practical experience
Flottweg has supported the Germany Scholarship for several years. Moritz Huber was sponsored by Flottweg as part of the 2019 Germany Scholarship and is currently completing his master's degree in automation technology: "For me personally, the Germany Scholarship was far more than just financial support for my studies. It was also an opportunity for me to make direct contact with an interesting company in my field. In my view, the Germany Scholarship was the signal that encouraged me to study at and with Flottweg." The chance to get to know one another personally during the scholarship holder meeting also had an impact on Moritz Huber: "On the day I received the scholarship itself, I was immediately impressed by the openness of Flottweg's employees as well as Flottweg's modern infrastructure. I went on to complete my practical semester and my bachelor's thesis in Flottweg's Automation department, and am now pursuing a dual master's degree at Flottweg."
