Trainees at Flottweg create simulation game "Value chain at Flottweg"

Eight trainees worked together on a simulation game that illustrates the value chain at Flottweg and implemented it in the form of a board game. The aim of the simulation game was to strengthen cooperation between the trainees from the various training disciplines and to promote constructive thinking and the ability to cooperate. At the same time, the value chain developed can be used for new employees in the future and the board game can be used for onboarding.

To develop the value chain, the trainees gathered a wealth of information by conducting surveys and holding numerous discussions within the company. It was important to map the value chain from the raw material to the finished product, the industrial centrifuge. From logistics and production to sales, marketing and service, the various departments were involved and consulted for the development of the value chain.

The joint result: a board game to illustrate the value chain

In order to not only work out the value chain in theory, but also to put it into practice, the trainees developed a board game. The concept and implementation for the board game were developed jointly by the trainees after all the information had been collected, sorted and finalized. This can now be used in future for new employees to illustrate the value chains at Flottweg in a playful way.

Petra Vohburger, trainer at Flottweg and initiator of the simulation game, is pleased with the result: "We are delighted that the interdisciplinary collaboration between our trainees worked so well as part of the simulation game. The development of the board game was of great relevance in that it made the value chain tangible for the trainees and allowed them to redesign it in a fun and creative way. There will be more trainee projects like this in the future to strengthen collaboration and promote strategic and creative thinking."
