Flottweg optimizes production with new robotic welding plant
Flottweg has begun using a fully automated robotic welding plant to weld scrolls and scroll bodies, as well as to mark and label the parts. The new machine makes production much easier and reduces the strain on machine operators. This completely new production process was tested in collaboration with Fronius and implemented internally by an interdisciplinary project team. The process was developed and trialed with Fronius for around nine months. The new robotic welding plant cost approximately 750,000 euros.
Fast and modern production
The new robotic welding plant enables fully automated welding of the scroll, which represents the heart of the centrifuge. Welding work can now be completed at twice the speed, and the plant can be programmed offline to prepare for the work, which makes the whole process more efficient. The new plant thus represents a technological advance for Flottweg and exemplifies its commitment to modernizing its production machinery. As recently as 2023, Flottweg invested 1.5 million euros in its production and bought a new turning and milling center.
“It is very important for us to continuously invest in our machinery. With the new welding robot, our production is even faster, more modern, and fully automated. It also improves the working conditions for our employees,” explains project manager Johannes Geltinger. “Achieving the highest precision and production quality is key to ensuring sustainable growth and driving innovation. With this further investment, Flottweg is improving its competitiveness and laying the groundwork for its future success.”
