Modular and customer-centric: Flottweg's new mobile test system

Separation technology specialist Flottweg has designed a new and innovative mobile test system for its customers in the wastewater sector. The new test truck, equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory with extensive testing facilities, expands Flottweg's portfolio for flexible use on larger sewage treatment plants. Currently, three more trucks for test drives and numerous semi-mobile container systems are already in use by customers.

Cutting-edge equipment

Particular attention was paid to modern and functional equipment. At the heart of the truck is the Xelletor decanter X5E, which greatly expands the testing possibilities for the centrifuge manufacturer. The system is designed for both thickening and dewatering tests and, with a throughput of approx. 15-40 m³/h, is particularly suitable for larger sewage treatment plants.

In addition to the Xelletor, the test system includes a fully equipped laboratory along with a polymer plant with a 2-chamber system. In the laboratory, evaluations are carried out on site in accordance with standards and DWA recommendations. The polymer plant can be operated with both powder and liquid polymer and complies with the current recommendations of the DWA. In close cooperation with the chassis manufacturer, the chassis technology has been optimized for use in confined spaces. The plug-and-play connections and the automatically extendable conveyor technology enable quick and flexible deployment of the system. The hydraulic lifting cover over the decanter greatly reduces the changeover times for machine conversions. The entire system can be operated fully automatically, thereby simulating later normal operation.

The result of interdisciplinary cooperation

For the design and implementation of the mobile test system, Flottweg combined expert knowledge wfrom various specialist areas such as process engineering, plant construction, automation engineering, testing, and purchasing. "I am pleased that the design of the test trailer was developed from our interdisciplinary cooperation. This allowed us to pool our expertise in a targeted manner and to optimize the system design for the customer's tests and the individual conditions," explains Thomas Gahr, the project manager with primary responsibility. It took about a year and a half from the initial planning phase to project completion.
