New acquisition pays off - Successful Xelletor comparison test

An old German adage says, "new brooms sweep clean". This also applies to the field of modern separation technology. Our Xelletor decanter centrifuge proves that the purchase of a new centrifuge pays off after only a few months. This is mainly due to increased efficiency and reduced operating costs.

The Abwasserverband Unterer Neckar (Lower Neckar Wastewater Association) commissioned an engineering firm with the task of demonstrating potential savings in its wastewater treatment plant. In this context, Flottweg was contracted to optimize the dewatering of wastewater sludge. The wastewater treatment plant of the Lower Neckar Wastewater Association has already been operating two Flottweg centrifuges Z4D since 1997.

In April 2019, a comparative test with our newly developed Xelletor series took place. With the Xelletor system, Flottweg has developed a unique centrifuge concept especially for the high-level dewatering of sewage sludge. The result: higher performance while consuming less and the same quality!

The new decanter centrifuge achieved significantly better results than the machines already in operation.  For example, the dry matter content of the output is 2 percent higher, which reduces disposal costs by up to 10 percent.

In addition, significantly fewer flocculants are required. This new centrifuge saves a total of 5 kg of polymer per ton of dry substance, which also greatly reduces operating costs.

The result of the comparison test shows that the acquisition costs can be amortized within two and a half years.
