Minister of State Dr Herrmann honors Bavarian state winner Jugend forscht 2022

On May 15, 2022, Minister of State Dr Herrmann welcomed the 15 winners of this year’s state competition Jugend forscht Bavaria in the Prinz-Carl-Palais in Munich. The 15 young researchers managed to impress the Bavarian state competition jury at the end of March and will now represent Bavaria with their projects in the national finals.

This year, Flottweg SE from Vilsbiburg organized the competition for young talent for the first time as a sponsoring company. State Minister Dr Florian Herrmann, Member of the State Parliament, congratulated the state winners: "They are the best in Bavaria! They all embarked on the research adventure with curiosity and passion. Enthusiasm and perseverance are the most important source of motivation for researchers, but they are also the driving force when things don't go so well. Intelligence, preparation, diligence, and certainly perseverance - that's what distinguishes state winners."

 

Under the motto “Random genius”, artificial intelligence, sustainability and ecology played an important role in the research projects this year. Peter Frankfurter, CEO of Flottweg SE, explained how important the competition for up-and-coming staff is for Germany as a business location: "Germany's future competitiveness depends above all on how innovative our companies will be in international comparison. I therefore believe that early and sustained nurturing of up-and-coming talent is extremely important. Through our involvement in Jugend forscht, we at Flottweg are consciously investing in young talent in the region and thus also strengthening the long-term future viability and attractiveness of the region."

 

Ullrich Herwanger, the new competition director of Jugend forscht Bavaria, took the opportunity to thank all those involved: "Youth research thrives from a unique spirit: This is where committed youth, business, science, and research come together, thus generating extraordinary projects. I would therefore like to thank all our partners, the Ministry of Culture and Flottweg as national sponsors for their commitment. My thanks go especially to Minister of State Dr. Herrmann for this worthy reception."

 

The Federal Final of Jugend forscht will take place from 26 to 29 May 2022 in Lübeck. There, the Bavarian state winners will compete with the winners from the other states in the categories of work environment, biology, chemistry, geosciences and space sciences, mathematics/computer science, physics, and technology.
