Do you want to move mountains? Then join our team! Training as an industrial mechanic

Flottweg has been training apprentices and promoting young talent at its in-house training centre for almost 80 years. Flottweg is currently training 64 teenagers and young adults in four different apprenticeships, taking them on after their apprenticeship with a retention rate of 98% and employing them as skilled workers in the company in a variety of ways. Students can start an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic (m/f/d), mechatronics technician (m/f/d), warehouse logistics specialist (m/f/d) or industrial clerk (m/f/d) with an additional qualification as a certified professional specialist for foreign language communication (m/f/d). Whether in assembly, production, incoming goods or the Human Resources department - there is something for many interested parties at Flottweg.

Katrin Huber and Valentin Grunder, industrial mechanic trainees, talk about their training at machine manufacturer Flottweg.

First contact with Flottweg:

Flottweg offers one-week student internships in all four training professions. In the internships for the professions of industrial mechanic and mechatronics technician, the young people gain their first experience in the training workshop. When asked whether the internship gave him a good insight into training at Flottweg, Valentin replies: ‘Yes, because I got an insight into most of the machines and was able to familiarise myself with many work processes.’ Valentin's first impression of the centrifuge manufacturer as an employer was also very positive. ‘My first impression of Flottweg was that it is a stable employer where you feel that you are in good hands and which offers a stable future’.

Flottweg as a training company:

Katrin describes the apprenticeship at the Vilsbiburg mechanical engineering company as instructive, varied and fair - Valentin can also confirm this. ‘To train as an industrial mechanic, it's important to be a team player, to have a technical understanding so to understand the plans and machines, and to show a sense of responsibility, because you're allowed to work independently on the machines very early,’ tell Katrin and Valentin.

In Flottweg's training workshop, the first and second year apprentices attend various courses such as the welding course or the 3D printing course. These are among the highlights of Valentin and Katrin's training programme. During the second and third year of their apprenticeship, the apprentices go through the various departments which are spread across Flottweg's two plants in Vilsbiburg. In the fourth year, the apprentices are preparing for their final exams with the help of their trainers. They both see their future at the mechanical engineering company: ‘But first I want to stay at Flottweg,’ says Valentin, and Katrin agrees.
