This collaborative relationship will also enable us to serve our customers in the ever-growing protein market even more effectively. Plant-based proteins can offer consumers a more sustainable alternative to traditional meat and dairy products. Bühler is a leading solutions provider for the upstream and downstream steps of this process, from legume receipt, cleaning, peeling, and milling to extrusion technologies that enable plant-based products to be produced with a fibrous, meat-like texture. And as the world leader in the market of mechanical separation technology, Flottweg supplements Bühler's production processes with its innovative technology for mechanical liquid-solid separation.

Innovative collaboration

Bühler and Flottweg see the new collaboration between their companies as a great opportunity for the future: "The partnership with Bühler will enable us to further expand our position in the plant-based protein market. This is because the plant-based protein market will continue to grow over the next few years, bringing new opportunities and possibilities that we will now capitalize on together," explains Dr. Kersten Link, CEO of Flottweg.

Johannes Wick, CEO of Bühler Grains & Food, also sees this new dynamic as valuable: "With their extensive knowledge and experience in the field of mechanical separation, Flottweg will be our preferred partner for offering integrated solutions to our customers who process sustainable proteins from plants. Thanks to their expertise, we can now cover the entire value chain together and produce more sustainable plant-based proteins for all types of legumes, including wet extrudates and milk alternatives."

Plant protein – More than just a trend

The plant-based protein and milk alternatives market continues to grow, making it clear that these developments are not just a passing trend. "New product developments are constantly enriching the food industry and gaining more and more fans. Plant-based alternatives taste better, are healthier, and still remain affordable," explains Dr. Mathias Aschenbrenner, a Sales Engineer at Flottweg and a plant protein specialist. "Product development with plant-based proteins has shown enormous progress. These are the best possible conditions for favorable, long-term market evolution."
