Separation technology for gravel/sand extraction and mining: Flottweg at Bauma 2025

From April 7 to 13, 2025, Flottweg will once again be presenting its separation solutions for the mining, sand, and gravel extraction sectors at Bauma in Munich. Flottweg produces high-performance centrifuges specifically for the recovery of wash water and the dewatering of minerals – an effective, profitable, and space-saving technology. Flottweg can be found at booth 325 in hall C2.

Flottweg separation technology: The right solution for gravel/sand extraction and mining

Flottweg decanters are virtuosos in the field of gravel/sand extraction and in mining. The high-performance centrifuges can continuously process high amounts of sludge. Designed for work in the mineral sector, the machines feature highly efficient wear protection on the scroll and rotor, ensuring a very long service life. The centrifuge operates as a closed system and separates even the finest solids from the water. A high dry matter content in the discharged solid facilitates the subsequent conveying or loading of the material. At the same time, the recovered water is clean and virtually free of solids, allowing it to be returned to the process. Valuable water can therefore be recycled as a raw material.

Save investment and operating costs with Flottweg decanters

The sludge that is separated during wet processing is often stored in intermediate settling ponds. Over time, the solid sediments and settles on the ground. The clear water is then drawn off and fed back into the process. Gradually, however, more and more sediment accumulates on the ground. The usable volume of the settling ponds inevitably decreases and less water can be stored. As a result, this sediment has to be regularly excavated and relocated in a very cost-intensive process.

Decanter centrifuges represent an ideal solution to this problem: The machines separate fine solids and water by means of centrifugal acceleration and thus ensure sludge dewatering. As a result the clear water can be stored, for example, in a wash water storage tank, making it directly available for the washing process. This eliminates the costly maintenance of settling ponds as well as their inefficient handling.

The compact and sophisticated design of the Flottweg decanter centrifuges is reflected in the manageable requirements when it comes to the necessary buildings and infrastructure. This significantly reduces the associated investment costs. Decanter centrifuges are designed for continuous operation around the clock, requiring minimal personnel. In addition, there is no longer a need for a cleaning cycle during operation. This saves further time and costs.
